- Arsenal are inching closer to landing the signature of Denis Suarez
- Unai Emery is keen to sign the unsettled Spaniard as his side pushes for a top-four finish
- The Gunners currently sit fifth on the Premier League standings with 41 points
Premier League giants, Arsenal, are reportedly confident of landing the services of Barcelona star, Denis Suarez, during the ongoing January transfer window.
According to a UK Metro report, Arsenal chiefs have already held crucial talks with the Catalan club over the signature of the midfielder.
Arsenal boss, Unai Emery, is understood to be keen to bolster his squad this month, but the club do not have much to spend, forcing them to look for loan moves.
The financial situation at the Emirates is now said to have complicated negotiations with Barcelona over Suarez, with the La Liga side pushing for a permanent deal for the player.
Reports in the UK contend that Arsenal's 2018 expenditure including on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's record signing is why the London club cannot make permanent deals for new players.
The Gunners are, however, hopeful of agreeing a loan move for the rest of the ongoing season with an option to make the move permanent in the summer for around £18million.
Suarez has enjoyed limited playing time at the Camp Nou, and would fancy a move back to England where he spent two years with his boyhood club, Manchester City.
Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported that Unai Emery has demanded the signature of Real Madrid star James Rodriguez as Mesut Ozil replacement.
According to UK Metro citing Daily Mail, the Colombian international has six months left on his two-year loan at Bayern Munich, but has continued to play second fiddle under Niko Kovac at Allianz Arena.
Emery is eager to offload Ozil but the German’s huge weekly wages at the Emirates are driving away potential suitors.
