- 4 young brothers have somehow managed to build their own car despite all being unemployed and living in poverty
- The brothers hail from Ekurhuleni and 2 matriculated but lack funds to further their studies
- They aim to sell the car to pay for tertiary studies for 1 of them
Dumisani (30), Nelson (25), Khulekani (21) and Sandiso Mokoena (18) are 4 brothers on a mission to overcome poverty.
The 4 young men from Katlehong in Ekurhuleni are all unemployed but miraculously managed to build a car of their own.
The light motor vehicle is ideal for short trips through the township.
The Daily Sun reported that eldest brother, Dumisani, was fed up with their current situation and suggested the idea to the others.
The 3 older boys have finished school and Sandiso is currently in matric.
However, a lack of funding meant none of them could further their education.
Sandiso focused on the balancing and dimensions, Khulekani was responsible for the design, while Nelson did the interior.
YEN.com.gh understands that most of the welding was done by Dumisani.
Dumisani said, “I pitched the idea of building a car to them early last year and they liked it. It took us a year to build it with corrugated iron and the engine of a four-wheeled motorbike.”
Their objective now is to sell the car and utilise the funds to pay for Nelson’s tertiary studies.
They hope to then continue in the same way until all of them have funds to study further.
