- MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has called for the arrest of Anas as the primary suspect for the murder of his partner Ahmed
- He said a text message available shows that Anas and Ahmed have had misunderstandings recently
- Agyapong said Anas must have murdered Suale after he fell out from the Tiger Eye team
The MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, believes investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, must be arrested for the murder of Ahmed Hussein-Suale.
According to Agyapong, Anas is the prime suspect of the murder of Suale who was part of his Tiger Eye PI team.
He believes that Anas’ sudden announcement of the death of his partner Ahmed ahead of any investigations by the police, and also trying to link him (Agyapong) to the killing was premature and raises suspicion.
This is contained in a report sighted by YEN.com.gh on Citinewsroom.com.
Ahmed was allegedly shot dead in Madina on Wednesday night by two gunmen on a motorbike as earlier reported by YEN.com.gh.
Moments after, Anas took to his Facebook page, to announce the death of his colleague with an old video of Agyapong urging residents of Madina to go after Ahmed some six months ago during the controversies surrounding his ‘Number 12’ investigative piece.
Anas disclosed that Ahmed was shot three times; twice in the chest, and once in the neck killing him instantly.
But Agyapong said Anas’ announcement with the details he gave were premature, therefore, he and his lawyer must not be left off the hook over this crime.
“He has interfered and distracted the police and the security agencies from doing their job with how he announced the death. The video he made and posted on social media was a way of diverting the attention of the substance of the matter,” he argued.
“How can he (Anas) produce a video to announce the death within that short period after the shooting? No chance was allowed for investigations from the appropriate authorities,” Agyapong added.
“Anas is a prime suspect. He knows everything about the death and must be arrested. Anas’ lawyer is also a suspect. How can a matter of this magnitude occur and you don’t give the security agencies the opportunity to investigate? All you do is to call for my arrest. Anas and his lawyer must rather be arrested not me,” the outspoken MP stressed.
Responding to reports of Ghanaians calling for him to be invited by the police and arrested, Agyapong said he was prepared to meet with the police because he has caused no harm.
“I hear people want the police to question me. Why should the police invite and question me? I am not afraid of anyone. The police should come; I will replay the video to them. I don’t have time for Ahmed at all. They are just dodging the issue,” he stressed.
“I don’t plot evil because the evil that men do lives after them. Anas and his team know the wicked things they have done and the enemies they have created for themselves and I am certainly not one,” Ken Agyapong added.
The controversial MP also alleged that there was a misunderstanding between Anas and the deceased that undoubtedly led to his gruesome murder.
“It is clear that Ahmed had fallen out from Anas, hence the murder. There is even a text message to that effect. He has even told another member who appears to have fallen out from the team that he would be killed in the same manner as Ahmed.” Ken Agyapong stated.
Meanwhile, the family of the late journalist has threatened to take action if the killers of their son were not apprehended and made to face the law in the shortest possible time.
Anas, on the other hand, has been criticised by a section of the public for blaming the murder of his partner of Ken Agyapong.
