Government has condemned vehemently the politicization of the Menzgold saga by the opposition NDC.
Speaking at a media briefing in Accra Thursday, January 17, 2019, the Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, noted that attempts to politicize the Menzgold saga will not help in resolving the case.
"Government expresses displeasure at the partisan politicization that has appeared to be characterizing the discussions on the Menzgold saga, and wishes to reiterate its earlier sympathies expressed to customers and clients of that company", he said.

The statement was in response to allegations made by the Communication Officer of NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, that government had been complicit in the Menzgold saga.
The minister who doubles as MP for Ofoase-Ayirebi emphasized that the main stand of government on the matter is that Menzgold customers should take legal action in order to retrieve their locked up cash.
The gold dealership firm, Menzgold Ghana Limited, has been battling with paying back investments of its customers after the Securities and Exchange Commission ordered them to halt operations following licensing issues.
Amid demonstrations and worry by customers that they may not retrieve their locked up cash, the two top political parties in Ghana have been at one another's neck blaming each other for the development.
Both members of the NPP and NDC have been accusing one another for aiding the embattled Menzgold CEO, Nana Appiah Mensah in one way or the other.

In one instance, the NPP accused the NDC for issuing Nana Appiah Mensah with a diplomatic passport while the NDC in return, denied the allegation saying it was rather the NPP who issued NAM 1 the diplomatic passport.
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah noted that government is not interested in politicizing the issue but rather, focused on rallying behind the appropriate state agencies to resolve the matter.
Meanwhile YEN.com.gh published on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, that the embattled CEO of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah who was reported to have been under arrest in the UAE was to be extradited on Thursday, January 17, 2019.
As at today Friday, January 18, 2019, it has not been confirmed if indeed, Nana Appiah Mensah was extradited into Ghana yesterday, Thursday, January 17, 2019, as said by the security agencies.
Meanwhile the gruesome murder of Ahmed Hussein-Suale, a partner to popular investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has taken over news about Menzgold and the extradition of NAM 1.
