Ghanaians predict a loss for Mahama in the 2020 elections

- Predictions of a loss for John Mahama and the NDC have emerged, following his constant criticisms of the Free SHS programme

- It has been claimed that Mahama could score only about 20% of the votes in the 2020 elections because of his attacks on the policy

Some Ghanaians have predicted that former president John Dramani Mahama, will lose the 2020 elections.

This, they explained, is because Mahama has consistently spoken against the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme being implemented by the current government.

Sharing their opinions in a vox pop by Daily Guide, some of them explained that they are not happy with Mahama’s constant condemnation of the policy.

For that reason, they went on, he would only win about 20% of votes because of his chronic attacks.

Some also stated that he is nothing more than a nation wrecker who doesn’t want the best for Ghana.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Mahama called on supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after losing the 2016 elections.

He added that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) promised the moon but are yet to honour their campaign promises.

This did not go down well with the minister of education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, who reacted to Mahama's comments.

Ghanaian musician, Lucky Mensah, in a video, also mocked Mahama for failing to implement the programme during his time as president.

Some Ghanaians resident in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, have also expressed their anger at Mahama for his recurrent attacks on the programme:

According to Kwadwo Kwarteng of Asafo, “Mahama and the NDC will get less than 20% of votes during the 2020 presidential elections because of his hatred for the free SHS programme.

This is a policy that has benefited every Ghanaian and we are surprised that Mahama hates this policy.”

Lydia Opoku of Atasemanso, on her part, said “Mahama is digging his own grave by kicking against the free SHS policy; this policy has come to stay.”

Kennedy Otchere of Santasi also noted that the free SHS is the best social intervention policy ever in Ghana’s history and he was surprised Mahama hated the policy.

Afua Fofie of Krofrom also said, “I will personally campaign so that Mr. Mahama loses the 2020 polls. Mahama doesn’t have Ghana’s interest at heart.”
