Single parenthood is an oft-discussed topic and usually, it is talked about as a challenge that the single mother or father has to overcome when they are raising a kid or more.
Across the world, the number of single parents are increasing probably because of the rate of separations and divorces. Ghana is no different.
And just like the rest of the world, it is women who usually have to bear the brunt of single parenthood in Ghana. This is especially difficult because women are often left behind by society in the acquisition of material and economic means.
But in some special cases, some Ghanaian women have prevailed despite being single mothers, or what has been interestingly called, "born ones".
