Women across the world are thought to be quite picky in their choice for relationship and marriage partners.
One of the points on which women are quite particular is the issue of age. Averagely, women would not want a man they are older than.
Some women go further to even choosing men who are much older than them. The psychology theory of Elektra Complex tends to explain this sort of thing.
Whatever we want to believe, women loving older men is something that can be explained through culture and psychology. YEN.com.gh gives a few reasons for this phenomenon.
1. Older often means stronger
This is both a cultural and psychological factor. We as human beings tend to believe that older people are generally physically stronger than younger people, at least until a certain old age.
If women are raised up to believe men are supposed to protect them, then these women would choose stronger (and older) men.
2. Older men tend to have material means
Along the same lines of women looking for protection, they are also trained to usually expect men to provide the material means of living. Sometimes, it is not just for living but for comfort too.
This means women will instinctively look for their options among older men.
3. Older men seem experienced in the intimacy department
Companionship and intimate satisfaction are necessary for relationships to thrive. Women, having been raised up to be more compassionate, can pick out men who also have softer sides.
Younger men fail in this aspect because they are still picking up experience of caring for other people other than themselves.
4. Elektra Complex
This reason is probably the most sociological and psychological of the four we have here. The Complex theory says that woman are attracted to the qualities they grow up seeing in the older men around them.
So, sometimes unknown to women, the men they choose are just those who remind them of their fathers, uncles etc.
