Olympic legend, Usain Bolt, has signaled at a premature end to his dream to become a professional footballer.

Bolt has endured a frustrating stint in football since announcing his desire to conquer the round-leather game as he did on the track.

The 32-year-old trialed with several clubs across Europe, including Borussia Dortmund and Norweigian side Stromsgodset but failed to land a professional deal.

His best shot at football came when the Central Coast Mariners of Australia’s A-League presented him with a chance to prove his worth.

He went on to make friendly appearances for the club, netting a brace in a match back in October that earned him the chance to sign a contract with the Australian side.

However the club failed to strike an agreement with Bolt over his wages, and the two sides agreed to terminate the trial a month after his heroics.

The Jamaican is further said to have turned down an offer from Maltese side Valletta in October, and was eventually unable to find another club.

His football dream now appears to have passed faster than his sprints.

According to an ESPN report, Bolt exuded some regret with how his football journey was handled, but was quick to disclose that he did have some blissful moments as a player.

“I don't want to say it wasn't dealt with properly, but I think we went about it, not the way we should and you learn your lesson, you live and you learn," ESPN quoted Bolt.

"It was a good experience. I really enjoyed just being in a team and it was different from track and field and it was fun while it lasted," he added.

The Olympic medalist went on to divulge his next move, stating that his sports life was over.

"I'm just doing many different things ... the sports life is over, so I'm now moving into different businesses, I have a lot of things in the pipeline, so as I say, I'm just dabbling in everything and trying to be a business man now," he said.

Bolt has previously won multiple Olympic gold medals in London, Beijing and Rio before giving football a daring attempt.
