Love your body and stop bleaching – Fuse ODG

Popular UK-based Ghanaian musician, Fuse ODG, has criticised African women, particularly Ghanaians, who have taken on the latest trend of bleaching.

Light-skinned body seem to be in-thing now as many ladies who were formerly known to be dark-skinned are all looking fair in complexion.

This trend has put undue pressure on young ladies who are applying all kinds of dangerous creams and swallowing pills and taking injections just to become light skinned.

But Fuse ODG believes this must not be entertained or tolerated at all.

In a report sighted by YEN.com.gh on Modernghana.com, the ‘Million Pound Girl’ hitmaker said beauty is not measured by bleached skin, therefore, women doing that must put a stop to it.

He called it a sad situation, and called on Africa women to stay true to themselves and appreciate how they were made.

It is just sad that today that is what we see but I want to tell the ladies that bleaching and all these things are not the standard of beauty. We are black and we should appreciate ourselves as such,” Fuse ODG stated.

"But can you blame them? It is because of their orientation, we have been brainwashed to believe that is what beauty is about. Our culture is rich, we are rich as a people so let us start seeing ourselves that way,” he stressed.

He further revealed how hard he was working together with his team to change the narrative about Africa.

Meanwhile, the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), has released a total list of 41 cosmetic products which are harmful.

These products, according to the FDA, contained dangerous substances which leads to kidney and fertility health problems among others in the long term of use.

The FDA has thus ordered producers of these products to recall them from the market.
