The balloting for slots in the upcoming presidential primaries of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has now been concluded with all aspirants knowing their slots.
The balloting which came off on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 saw former president Mahama picking the third slot on the ballot paper.
The first slot was, however, picked by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nadowli-Kaleo, Alban Bagbin.
Businessman Nurudeen Iddrisu, who is also running to become the NDC’s presidential candidate, picked the second slot.
Sylvester Mensah, Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, Goosie Tanoh and Prof. Joshua Alabi picked the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh slots respectively.
The balloting was done at the party’s headquarters in Accra after all the candidates were thoroughly vetted.
The NDC will go to the polls on February 23, 2019 to elect its flagbearer for the 2020 general elections.
Explaining the schedules leading to the primaries, the party’s Acting Director of Elections, Bede-Ziedin, said printing of ballot papers will take place from 3rd to 17th February 2019.
This, he said, will be followed by forwarding all the ballot papers to all their constituency centres where the election will be held.
National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, also added that candidates will be presented with the voter’s register after being cleared by the vetting committee.
“When the candidates are cleared by the vetting committee, they will then be presented with the voter’s register,” he said.
The NDC’s presidential primary will take place in 276 polling centres nationwide.
