- The police have dismissed reports that the murdered Tema Port public affairs manager, Josephine Asante, was raped before she was killed
- The Director of police public affairs, ACP David Eklu, said investigations are still ongoing and so far nothing shows that the deceased was sexually assaulted
- He said a forensic examination was carried out to determine that.
The Ghana police have debunked reports which went haywire that the murdered public affairs manager of Tema Port, Josephine Asante, was sexually assaulted at the time of her murder.
According to ACP Eklu, director of police public affairs, a forensic examination conducted by the police shows that Asante was not raped contrary to the media reports.
This comes after wide reports that the police found semen in the pelvic area of the murdered woman, a possibility that she might have been raped before being killed.
However, the latest investigation findings by the police have annulled that report.
Though there was sperms as earlier reported, the police said they were "looking at other possibilities".
“The forensic examination we conducted indicated that the lady was not raped unlike what is in the media. There was no sexual assault on the lady and we can confirm that. We are looking at other possibilities in terms of the investigations we are conducting,” ACP Eklu said.
He revealed further that the police are following other leads in carrying out its investigation to unravel the circumstances that led to her murder and identification of the potential killer or killers.
Asante was murdered in cold blood in her room at the EMEF Estate in Tema Community 25.
She had reportedly returned from a senior staff party organized by GPHA only to be stabbed to death by her assailants.
Her houseboy with whom she lived with together with her son, is currently in police custody helping with investigations into the matter.
He was reported to have confessed to burying some items of his dead madam including her wristwatch and an amount of GH₵340.00.
The police have set aside a GHc 15,000 bounty for anybody who gives credible information about perpetrators of the gruesome murder.
Also, the GPHA has promised a GH₵50,000 as reward for members of the public who would have any information about Asante’s killer or killers.
