Real Madrid goes into the second leg of the Copa del Rey quarter final with a two-goal advantage following a 4-2 victory over Girona at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Los Blancos fell behind as early as the seventh minute as a beautiful cross from Raul Garcia was volleyed home by Anthony Lozano to make the score 1-0 to Girona.
However, Santiago Solari's men struck back in the 18th minute as Alvaro Odrizola's beautiful run down the right produced a low cross for Lucas Vasquez who wasted no time in slotting the home.
It was 1-1 to Madrid. And Sergio Ramos put Real in front for the first time on the stroke of half time as Vinicius Junior was tripped in the box before the captain applied a cool finish to make it 2-1.
The complexion of the scoreline changed in the second half as Girona were also awarded their own penalty as Alex Granell put the ball past Thibaut Courtois to make it 2-2.
The match took a dramatic twist in the 77th minute as Ramos completed his brace with a trademark header courtesy of a well-measured cross fro Marcelo to make it 3-2.
Three minutes later tormentor-in-chief Vinicius Junior provided a the assist for Karim Benzema's easy tap-in to make the score 4-2.
Real Madrid held on for the win win as they take a two-goal advantage into the second leg against the Catalan based side in two weeks.
