Manchester City beat fellow Premier League outfit Burnley 5-0 to progress to the fifth stage of this year's FA Cup championship.

Gabriel Jesus opened scoring for the Citizens in the 23rd minute after successfully connecting with Danilo's superb pass on the left flank and beautifully put the ball in the back of the net.

The lone strike was all the hosts needed to win the first half of the meeting which was keenly contested by both sides.

Portugal international Bernardo Silva doubled his side's tally just seven minutes after returning to the pitch with Kevin De Bruyne claiming the assist for that goal.

The Belgian attacker then recorded his name on the scores sheet in the 61st minute with a superb long range shot from outside the 18-yard box.

Former Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez had a hand in the goal that stretched his side's lead to three goals after 61 minutes of the game.

In spite of Pep Guardiola resting most of his in-form attackers, City still rattled their visitors as Kevin Long scores in his side's goal post to stretch the hosts lead to 4-0 in the 70th minute.

The home team continued their dominance with Sergio Aguero, David Silva and Phil Foden coming on for Fernandinho, De Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus.

And barely ten minutes after coming on, Aguero found the back of the net via spot kick as the EPL defending champions extended their lead in the game.

With this win, Guardiola's men are on course to contending for quadruple this season - with as they battle Newcastle United in their next EPL game.

Meanwhile, the FA Cup draws for the next stage has been scheduled to go down on Monday, January 28.
