Actor John Dumelo has sent a message of caution to politicians and their followers about victimising celebrities they do not share political party sympathies with.
According to him, Ghana practises democracy and therefore celebrities who do not support a party's ideology and beliefs should not be victimised.
Dumelo made this statement when he appeared on "Dinning with Cooks and Braggarts", a TV show hosted by Yvonne Okoro.
The award-winning actor indicated that because of his beliefs and support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), he has suffered several abuses; something he thinks should not be the case.
John Dumelo who has been tipped to run for parliamentary elections in 2020, mentioned that it is high time politicians and their followers realise that there is freedom of association.
Therefore if a celebrity does not support them, he has a right to his/her choices.
He noted that he will on any day defend any other celebrity supporting another political party if he or she is being manhandled by another party member.
In other news, while democracy is being linked to the development in Africa, many like former Nigerian leader Olusegun Obasanjo, are still of the view that it is not an antidote to the many problems bedeviling the continent.
The former president was sharing his views in an interview he granted Kyenkyenhene Boateng on "21 minutes with KKB" that was first reported by Mynewsgh.com.
