- Anas Aremeyaw Anas has said his team are working a story big enough to shake the foundations of nations
- This, he said, is to honour his deceased colleague Ahmed who was shot
- Anas said Ahmed’s death had not taken away the spirit of his people
Ace Investigative Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, has announced that his team was working on a story big enough to shake the foundations of nations.
According to the journalist who is mourning his friend and colleague Ahmed Hussein-Suale, that big story is to honour the memory of Ahmed.
He indicated that Ahmed’s death would not be in the vain for the team because the “spirit of the people” have not been taken away.
He was speaking in an interview with international news agency Deutsche Welle (DW) in a video sighted by YEN.com.gh on Twitter.
Anas revealed in that interview that nothing, not even the death of Ahmed, would stop his team from doing what they do in order for Ghana and Africa to be a safe place to live in.
He also reiterated his zeal to ensure that journalists are kept safe.
“If you take away one Anas as has just happened, you haven’t taken away the spirit of the people. I encourage everyone to be focused. There is a lot to be done to make this country safe,” Anas said.
“Wherever he is, he is watching us and he will be very disappointed if we decide to give up. The way he was shot, it means you are not free, I am not free. No other journalist is free,” he added.
Ahmed was murdered in cold blood on the night of Wednesday, January 16, 2019, in Madina, Accra.
His assailants were said to have lurked in the area from 3:15 pm in the afternoon, waiting for darkness to fall in order to kill him.
An eyewitness narrated thoroughly how the unknown killers on motorbike trailed him into a salon and shot him in the neck killing him instantly.
This was after Ahmed had tried to dodge and run away from them after they had earlier shot him twice in the chest.
Also, a leaked Whatsapp message which was published earlier by YEN.com.gh revealed how some "powerful people" planned to quell Ahmed's existence after his photos were leaked.
Meanwhile, Kennedy Agyapong has promised to reward any member of the public with vital information about Ahmed’s killers with GH₵100,000.
He had earlier accused Anas of killing Ahmed, and called on the police to arrest him.
