- Charity Dua, a 19-year-old girl presumed kidnapped has disclosed that she voluntarily left home
- According to her, she left because she was constantly maltreated by her mother
- Charity added that she was not aware that the story of her disappearance was captured in the news
Charity Dua, the 19-year-old girl who was reportedly kidnapped, has explained the reason behind her disappearance from home.
In an interview on Accra FM, she explained that left home to stay with a male friend at Dzorwulu because she was constantly maltreated by her mother and was therefore frustrated.
Classfmonline.com reports that her father, Agyeman Dua, had earlier claimed Charity had been abducted since Wednesday, December 19, 2018.
The matter was reported to the Kotobabi Police, but according to Dua, no significant results were achieved.
“I left home to live with my friend where I thought I could get some peace of mind from the harassment and maltreatment I received from my mother at home.
At a point, I asked if indeed that was my mother because I could not understand some of her utterances. I was not kidnapped; I left home on my own and later decided to return,” she said.
Charity went on to say that she was unaware of the story of her kidnap throughout the time she stayed at Dzorwulu.
Her mother, Margret Agyeman Dua, has meanwhile denied maltreating Charity at home.
She explained that she meted out disciplinary action when necessary and that cannot constitute maltreatment as it is part of her parental obligations.
