For some time now, many Ghanaians are living in fear, and are in a state of insecurity after reports of kidnappings and contract killings became rife.
Many young children, especially girls, have reportedly been kidnapped in some parts of the country.
While others have been found and taken back to their parents, some are yet to be traced.
In a new audio recording chanced upon by YEN.com.gh, a young girl has narrated how she was nearly kidnapped by some men in a taxi.
According to the voice YEN.com.gh listened to, the lady was on her way to buy a recharge card when the incident happened.
She said while on her way, she saw one young man who looked dirty squatting in a lonely area, and as she approached, he had his eyes sternly fixed on her.
According to the lady, as she got nearer, the man kept looking at her and this frightened her so much that she decided to run to where she was going in an effort to disappear from where the guy was.
However, he also started chasing her and out of fear, she started shouting while still running.
Suddenly, a taxi nearby pulled over to her direction ordering her to sit in it as an escape.
Unknowing to her, the taxi driver was an accomplice and was actually working with the guy who was chasing her, and so after she sat in the passenger’s seat at the front, the driver stopped for his partner to sit at the back.
He then started driving at top speed according to the lady, adding that that was when she realized that she was indeed in trouble.
She revealed how she started screaming on top of her voice while making an attempt to open the door and escape, but she feared the consequences of sustaining severe injuries, therefore, she kept shouting.
According to her, it took some other young men in a barbering salon along the road to save her after their attention was drawn to her shouting.
She was full of praises for God and her rescuers, while urging others to be alert about this new taxi trick.
This incident was said to have happened in Tema.
Meanwhile, apart from the kidnapping issues, Ghana has also been plagued with contract killings.
YEN.com.gh earlier published the report of the deaths of Josephine Asante, former public affairs manager of Tema Port, Ahmed Hussein-Suale, an investigative journalist with Anas Aremeyaw Anas, and a staff of Forestry Commission, who were all shot by unknown assailants.
Their deaths were mysterious and the police are currently investigating them.
