The National Democratic Congress has revealed that they are likely to boycott the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.
The legal department of the opposition NDC, made the revelation, sighting irregularities as the reason for the boycott.
The report reveals that the decision will be taken today, Wednesday, January 30, 2019, by the National Executive Committee of the party.
The NDC noted that they suspect some irregularities in the voters register to be used for the by-election slated for Thursday , January 31, 2019.
Outlining the reason for possible boycott, the NDC noted that the register had a voter population of 88,745 but are suspecting that there is an addition of 10,165.
The voters register however has been approved by the Electoral Commission who deem the register was free from errors.
It is therefore surprising that a day to the bye-election, the opposition NDC is threatening to boycott the election.
On drawing EC's attention to the supposed irregularity, the NDC revealed that the EC ignored them at first but got back to them on the issue on Tuesday, January 29, 2019.
Delali Kwasi Brempong of the NDC, William Kofi Dowokpor of the Progressive People’s Party, Clement Boadi of the Liberal Party of Ghana and Lydia Seyram Alhassan of the NPP are the candidates contesting for the bye-election.
The four candidates are contesting the vacant seat following the demise of Emmanuel Agyarko Kyeremanteng, former MP for area.
