Some parts of the missing plane (two cushions) transporting Cardiff City record signing Emiliano Sala have reportedly been found on a French beach.
The 28-year-old Argentine striker was on his way to join his new teammates in Wales when his aircraft vanished last Monday.
SunSport reports that the Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) revealed that cushions are likely to have been from the Piper Malibu plane which vanished last Monday were found.
The former Nantes striker who was on board with British pilot Dave Ibbotson from Scunthorpe are missing and presumed dead.
French investigators made the news known to the public saying the parts of the plane were found on a beach near Surtainville on the French coast.
However, the search is set to be taken to the next level as underwater search will commence in a bid to recover the aircraft wreckage.
An AAIB spokesman said: "On the morning of Monday 28 January, we were advised by the Bureau d’Enquêtes & d’Analyses (BEA), the French safety investigation authority, that part of a seat cushion had been found on a beach near Surainville on the Cotentin Peninsula.
"A second cushion was found in the same area later that day. From a preliminary examination we have concluded that it is likely that the cushions are from the missing aircraft.
"We have now identified a priority underwater search area of approximately four square nautical miles."
The search and rescue team are due to commence a fresh search this weekend due to difficult weather conditions expected over the coming days.
Meanwhile, the cushions are first wreckage found from the missing Cardiff-bound plane following a huge search of the English Channel.
The plane took off from Nantes Airport in France at around 7.30pm last Monday but never reached its destination.
The Argentinian striker was set to be unveiled as Cardiff City's club record signing the next day after completing a £15 million transfer from Nantes.
Legit.ng earlier reported that Chelsea star N'Golo Kante has offered to finance the search of missing Cardiff City player Emiliano Sala and his pilot.
The 28-year-old recently joined the EPL side from Nantes but was on his way to Wales from France to start training with his new side before his plane disappeared on Monday, January 21.
The news sent football world into panic as all efforts to locate the plane or the passengers remain unfruitful.
