Highlife singer Anokye Supremo has passed away in India, YEN.com.gh can report.
The singer popularly known as Daddy Lumba Junior as earlier reported by YEN.com.gh had been fighting for his life in an Indian hospital.
The artiste had been in a coma for some days since the operation with surgeons hoping he was going to revive as soon as possible.
But according to Zak, Supremo's friend who was looking after him in India, the Highlife musician had been recovering well last Saturday but suffered a relapse on Monday and died on Tuesday.
Speaking in a Facebook Live interview on KOFI TV, the friend could be heard shedding tears as he narrated what happened.
Anokye had been struggling to see especially with his left eye and this according to him started after he experienced a severe headache.
Supremo in a later interview with KOFI TV indicated that he had been diagnosed with a brain tumour and was losing his sight after as a result.
According to him, his doctors had told him he will need about Ghc 10,000 to have that surgery. He thus asked Ghanaians to support him in raising money to foot the surgery.
Weeks after his plea, Supremo was flown to India for a tumour surgery. He was in high spirits as he spoke to Kofi TV at the Kotoka International Airport before flying.
But the surgery in India experienced some complications leaving Supremo in coma for days at the Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Mukundapur, before his death.
