The national communications officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, has described the widow of the late Emmanuel Boakye Agyarko as a "slay queen widow".
This is because Gyamfi is baffled by what he claims is the wrong conduct of the widow of late New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Ayawaso West Wuogon.
Adomonline.com reports that Gyamfi claimed the widow, Madam Lydia Alhassan, has been acting like a slay queen and flaunting her children in public even when her late husband was at the morgue.
Slay queen is a term Ghanaians reserve for social media savvy young women who are usually thought of as overly conscious of their looks and very attracted to material possessions.
The NPP picked Lydia Alhassan, also known as Maa Lydia, to run for the seat at the party’s parliamentary primary after the demise of her husband.
She got a massive endorsement from constituents and even President Akufo-Addo, who claimed she was the backbone of the late Agyarko.
Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh can confirm that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has pulled out of the January 31, 2019 by-election in the Ayawaso West Wuogon.
Joy FM reports that the national chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo told Joy FM’s "Super Morning Show" that the party has withdrawn from the elections for security reasons.
Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that armed security men besieged the NDC candidate’s home and shot a number of people who were believed to polling agents serving the interests of the NDC.
Ampofo added that six persons have been shot and they are currently receiving treatment at the Legon Hospital.
