Ghanaians on social media have been reacting to Kennedy Agyapong’s decision to place a GHc100,000 bounty on the killers of TigerEye PI journalist, Ahmed Hussein-Suale.
It is fair to say that the most trending topic this week has been Assin Central MP’s interviews concerning the death of the investigative journalist.
Ahmed, who was a member of Anas’ Tiger Eye PI team, was found dead in his car, after he was shot by unknown assailants while driving.
He was reportedly shot three times, twice in the chest and another in the neck by gunmen on motorbike around Madina.
A section of the public has partially blamed for Mr. Agyapong for the crime, especially after he earlier threatened the deceased in a video and called for him to be beaten months before his death.
But speaking on Net2 TV, the controversial lawmaker denied having a hand in the crime and rather placed a bounty on the killers of Ahmed.
According to him, anyone who helps with information that leads to the arrest of the killers will rewarded with GHc100,000.
"What I want to do is, anyone who can give information to assist in the arrest of the suspects will receive GHC100,000 from me, because it’s my reputation on the line,” Mr. Agyapong said.
On social media, though, some Ghanaians who commented on the subject had different views.
One guy said: “When I was a child, I used to help my mother in search of her money which I stole in order to prevent her from accusing me. The sad and funny thing is that sometimes when she is alone, I would hear her saying to herself 'I know I will not see this money because the one whom I know had taken the money is seriously helping me to look for it. My smart moves worked and failed sometimes (mostly)..It is there that as a child you must understand it that, an okro plant may grow taller than the owner but that cannot prevents the owner from plugging the okro on it when s/he needs it.”
Another said: “After you have recklessly caused his death, you're shamelessly placing a ransom for what? Onukpa buulu.”
A third person also stated: “That man has to be sacked from parliament, he is a disgrace to parliament the apex house of the government.”
