Nana B apologies after slapping Sammy Gaymfi during a live radio show

The National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B has issued broken his silence after slapping National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi.

On Friday, February 1, 2019, the two men were both invited as guests at Multimedia station Asempa FM for a political show.

However, amidst a tense debate, both men appeared to have lost their cool towards the end of the programme.

In a video which went viral, Gyamfi is seen being hit by the Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwaa, who was also a panellist on the show.

This was then followed by what looked like a slap from Nana B on the face of the NDC Communications Officer.

Following the said incident, Nana B has heavily been criticized by some Ghanaians.

However, the NPP official in a press statement sighted by has issued an unqualified apology to Ghanaians for his action.

"I refer to the events which took place yesterday on Asempa FM's Political Talk Show, “Ekosisen.”

Regardless of the repulsive, provocative conduct by the NDC's National Communications Director on the show which included unacceptable verbal attacks on the President and myself, I am, upon sober reflection, apologising to listeners of Asempa FM and Ghanaians for the manner in which I responded,” the statement read.

The statement added that, “I wish to assure all that, I remain committed to decent, issue-based discourse on our airwaves and that this unfortunate incident will not be repeated.

I will also encourage my junior brother, Sammy Gyamfi, to be decorous and respectful in his public utterances during such engagements and to, at all times, respect the high office of the President.”

Meanwhile, NDC has charged the Ghana Police Service to arrest Nana B for assaulting Gyamfi.

The youth wing of the opposition party said the police must arrest Nana B within the next 24 hours or incur their wrath.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, February 1, 2019 the National Youth Organizer of the NDC, George Opare Addo, described Nana B as a “violent thug.”
