Ghanaian reggae artiste, Rocky Dawuni, has expressed interest in meeting the Accra Mayor over improper sanitation in Accra.
In a report that YEN.com.gh sighted on Cititfmonline.com, Rocky Dawuni who is a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador said he wants to assist in making Accra the cleanest city in Africa.
In an interview with Citi TV, Rocky Dawuni explained his project plan geared towards getting sanitation improved in Accra and Ghana.
“Having this designation this year, I’m gonna go sit with the Mayor of Accra and discuss how together we can help keep the environment clean,” he said.
“Government can put out ideas but when the people who need to take it up and keep it going are not willing to support, it won’t succeed," he added.
Rocky Dawuni who is in Ghana to shoot videos for his upcoming album has been commenting more on the filth in Accra.
According to Rocky Dawuni, Accra is engulfed in filth, thus government together with citizens must work hard to change the narrative.
“Making Accra the cleanest city must be the responsibility of the citizenry," he advised.
He urged, saying "You need to clean your environment so that as everybody is doing that and the over-arching authorities also encourage everybody then we have a movement that is supporting the big idea."
Rocky charged Ghanaians to help government clean the city since the people play a big role in governance.
He noted that government cannot identify filth everywhere in the city so as to clean it up so it will take citizens also to have a clean Accra.
He charged Ghanaians to plant more trees and also engage in practices that would help preserve the environment.
Rocky Dawuni is working on releasing his next studio album titled "Beats of Zion".
