Ghanaians describe NDC MPs behaviour and conduct as appalling

Ghanaians on social media have descended on the Minority over its decision to display placards with the inscription “bloody widow” in Parliament during a swearing-in ceremony.

On Tuesday, February 5, 2019 the MPs of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) walked out on Parliament during the swearing-in of newly-elected MP for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, Lydia Seyram Alhassan.

The Minority’s decision to stage a walk out followed the violence that marred the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

The NDC had called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to annul the results of the by-election.

And to dissociate themselves from Lydia Alhassan’s swearing-in, some Minority MPs wielded placards that read “bloody widow”.

This was in an attempt to taunt the Madam Alhassan, who succeeded her late husband, Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko as MP for the constituency.

However, the actions of the Minority were widely criticised by a section of the public.

Here are some of the reactions from Ghanaians on social media:
