Prison officer arrested for possessing 9 wraps of ‘wee’

- A prison officer, Cpl. Sackey Emmanuel Kwabena, has been arrested for possessing Indian hemp

- He was picked up after he was spotted with a handbag which contained the drugs

- The case is under investigation and the suspect will soon be processed before a court

A prison officer at the Tamale Central Prisons, Cpl. Sackey Emmanuel Kwabena, has been arrested by the Northern Regional police command for possessing a substance suspected to be Indian hemp.

YEN.com.gh understands that two of his colleague officers, ASP Francis Weigam and Chief Officer Gilbert Guru, arrested the suspect at the prison facility.

The arrest, which took place in the early hours of Monday, February 4, 2019, was effected after the suspected was spotted with a handbag at the premises of the prison.

3news.com reports that the drugs were found on him after the handbag was searched, and he was subsequently handed over to the police.

According to the Northern Regional Police PRO, ASP Sulemana Tanko, the incident actually took place on Sunday, February 3, 2019, at about 8:30pm, but the suspect was arrested the following day and handed over to the police.

He indicated Cpl Sackey is in police custody and will be charged for possession of substance without authority.

The case is under investigation and suspect will soon be arraigned before court.
