The Inter-Party Coalition for National Sovereignty, made up of some of the Ghana opposition political parties on Thursday, February 7, 2019, demonstrated against the violence that rocked the by-election at the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
In the aftermath of the by-election, Acheampong reportedly admitted that the masked men at La-Bawaleshie polling stations present during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election were deployed from his outfit.
There were reports of violence during the by-election, which saw Lydia Seyram Alhassan, the widow of Emmanuel Kyeremanteng Agyarko, claim victory.
Her swearing in ceremony at Parliament took an unexpected turn as members of the minority side staged a walkout and displayed placards with the inscription, ‘bloody widow.’
