Some recruits of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCo) programme , have vowed to hit the streets to demand their salaries, which is in arrears.

Per a Classfmonline.com report, Ellen Acheampong, who is a spokesperson for the group, stated that they have been working in various fields for four months, but have not been paid.

Speaking on Accra FM, she explained that all efforts to get the government to settle their arrears have proven futile, hence their decision to embark on a demonstration.

“The only language the government will understand now is a demonstration. And so, we are demonstrating tomorrow to send a message to the government in respect of our issues,” she said.

Acheampong further noted that most of the affected recruits were previously under the Youth in Afforestation programme, and they received prompt payments from the Forestry Commission.

They have however been worse off ever since they resigned from their positions and joined NABCo.

She went on to appeal to the commission to come to their aid and ensure that they are paid, since they were once employees.

The public relations officer of the commission, Joyce Ofori Kwafo, however responded by saying that there is nothing the commission can do, since those affected resigned.

On Tuesday, May 1, 2018, President Akufo-Addo launched NABCo, which has reportedly employed 100,000 young graduates to assist in public sector service delivery.

At the launch, he said 100,000 jobs would be delivered via NABCo, in seven priority modules.

The modules are Educate Ghana, Heal Ghana, Feed Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Digitize Ghana, Enterprise Ghana and Civic Ghana.
