Kennedy Agyapong reveals plans of quitting politics and going into business

- MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has stated that he wishes to go into business

- He explained that he will soon quit politics and fully focus on his business interests

- According to him, there is too much pressure in politics and there is a lot of money to be made in doing business

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has hinted of his plans to leave Parliament.

Speaking on Adom TV on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, he stated that he wishes to focus more on his business, as he will get more money from there.

He added that there is so much pressure on him, and for that reason, he wishes to ready himself for retirement from active politics.

Reacting to the question of whether he is interest in becoming a Parliamentary leader, he answered with an emphatic “No”, as people will constantly worry him their issues.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP, who has spent 19 years in parliament, argued that he has done tremendously well in education within the constituency.

He recounted how difficult it was to get people who could read and write when he first became MP.

According to him he made education a priority and built schools, awarded scholarships among other interventions, and all paid off to the extent that the area can now boast of hundreds of university graduates

“Upon assumption of office, I realized education was low. During the Kufuor era, we needed drivers with English and Mathematics education, but we could only get one.

I made it a priority and put up school buildings and scholarship because was difficult to get a university graduates, but now you can see the number of schools and hospitals I have put up in the area, as well hundreds of university graduates”, he revealed.

He however stated that it is time to take a bow though there is pressure on him to rescind the decision to contest in 2020.
