- NDC's general secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has claimed that the minister of state in charge of national security, Bryan Acheampong, has been possessed by a spirit of terrorism
- He added that Acheampong's experience in the US war with the Talibans taught him how to use masked men during the recent by-election
The general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has claimed that a spirit of terrorism has possessed the minister of state in charge of national security, Bryan Acheampong.
According to a report by Ghanaweb, Acheampong exhibits certain characteristics, which prove he is implementing some of things he learnt during his time as a soldier in the United States (US) army.
Nketia, popularly known as General Mosquito, further revealed that the mode of dressing of the masked men who assaulted people during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, was similar to that used by the Talibans in Afghanistan.
“Bryan Acheampong has worked with the American Army before. He was once sent to Afghanistan to fight with Talibans.
There, they fight with masks, so that is the experience he has, and that is why the president appointed him to be in charge of National Security.
There is a spirit of terrorism in him and that is what we saw during the by-elections,” Mosquito alleged.
He went on to say Acheampong’s appointment was not surprising, as President Akufo-Addo knows he can use him for violence whenever he wished.
It has taken statements from a number of security experts including Acheampong and the minister of national security, Kan Dapaah.
It is expected to present its report in a month’s time to President Akufo-Addo, for further action to be taken.
