A woman, claiming to be German, has tipped off YEN.com.gh about a scam she has had to endure from a Ghanaian man for whom she developed romantic feelings over a period interacting online.

YEN.com.gh is withholding her name for the obvious reasons of protecting our source. What she has however told us is so grave that this publication should only be the first of many to come.

It all started when the German met the said Ghanaian man on a singles platform. The two apparently clicked because according to the German, it was not long before the Ghanaian started speaking of love.

While the online affair was still brewing, the Ghanaian man asked if he could get financial help because his credit card was "broken".

The German, at this point, a woman in love of some sort, decided to help. She thus gave us the details she was instructed to send money.

Tried as she did, the German could not send the money to Carlos Agyemang Appiah, who apparently, was in South Korea.

The money was returned with further instructions for her to send it someone in Ghana. And she successfully did.

YEN.com.gh is in possession of photos of some of the receipts purported to have been generated from the German's money transfer.

According to the German, whoever was receiving the money through MoneyGram was sending it over to someone in England.

Till date, about 5000 Euros or GHC 30,000 has been asked from her. And when she said she had no more to give, her "love interest" has spoken to her at an irregular rate.

All this while, she believed she had been communicating with a 26-year-old.

The receiver of the money in England, a man she was told was called Joseph, has also stopped communicating with her. She gave us a phone number of this Joseph.

The German says she has been worried for long but also afraid and ashamed to tell her story. It was not easy to tell the world you have been tricked into falling in love and losing 5000 Euros.

But she saw the story, in late 2018, of a white woman who tracked and flew to Ghana to have her scammers arrested.

But in the German's case, she does not know who she is dealing with since her scammer used fake photos for the singles platform and so far, three names have been mentioned to her.

A lot more information was given to YEN.com.gh by the German. But we are holding on on publishing, hoping this first publication garners the attention it deserves.
