Kumasi shooting: NDC official claims national executives ordered that blame should be shifted

- NDC's Ashanti regional secretary, Kwame Zu, has allegedly stated that the top hierarchy of the party know those behind the Kumasi shooting

- He was is reported to have added that the party executives directed that the blame should be shifted elsewhere

- Reports of violence were recorded during a meeting in Kumasi on Monday, February 18, 2019

The Ashanti regional secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kwame Zu, has revealed that some powerful people in the party ordered him to shift blame with respect to the shooting incident that occurred at Kumasi.

According to a report by Peacefmonline.com, he was heard on tape saying the party knows the one who killed someone and injured another person on Monday, February 18, 2019.

He is reported to have added that the suspect is a member of the party’s vigilante group, ‘The Hawks.’

Zu however added that the leadership of the party instructed him to tell a different story if answers are demanded.

As part of the revelations made via a phone interview with an alleged brother of the deceased, Abu, he allegedly stated that the police are determined to arrest the suspected killer and his accomplice.

The Ashanti regional police has meanwhile launched a manhunt for four people suspected to be involved in the shooting that took place in Kumasi at the regional office of the NDC.

In an interview, the acting regional police public relations officer, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, said:“the suspects who are currently on the police wanted list include Husein Barnabas, also known as Warrior; Mijima, Damos, and Abu Taliban."

This search comes after some executive members and supporters of the NDC were attacked at the regional office in Kumasi, on February 18, 2019, during a high-powered meeting of national and regional executives of the party.
