Ghana U-17 female captain, Mukarama Abdula, has expressed her delight following the arrival of the two awards she secured at the 2018 U-17 Women's World Cup in Uruguay.
Mukarama won the top scorer award and Bronze Ball (third best player) despite Ghana's failure to progress to the semifinals after losing 4-2 to Mexico on penalties.
Even though the young forward had to come home early, the seven goals she scored, won her the golden boot whilst she was also adjudged the third best player of the tournament.
Following the arrival of her awards, Mukarama in an interview said:
“I’m very excited about the awards. I have been waiting for it. I didn’t had any hint on when it will be coming. I was really waiting for it. Finally, it came, I’m very happy.”
“I was just thinking like when will the awards come. Because it been months since we finished the tournament but it wasn’t coming. I was waiting and praying it will come.”
” It’s a very good thing and an encouragement for others. They just want to see the award as it is a source of motivation to them.”
Mukarama who plays for Northern Ladies has already gotten scholarships to study in some American Universities after her superb display on the world stage.
