Kwadee believes that he is still more popular than Sarkodie, Stonebwoy and co

One-time biggest rap sensation in Ghana, Okomfo Kwadee has expressed the feeling that he is a more popular artiste than Stonebwoy and Sarkodie.

Bragging is an art when one speaks of rap music culture and so it is not surprising when rappers do that. However, Kwadee's most recent claim could be contested owing to the fact that he last had a hit song over 10 years ago.

The Graphic Showbiz reported that Kwadee said Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, who are seen as currently the biggest artistes in Ghana, are yet to attain the popularity he enjoys.

“None of the artistes I mentioned above have gotten to where I am. I was a nominee for Channel O Awards (2003) and KORA Music Awards (2005) but I didn’t even go for the events," Kwadee said.

He added: "Everyone in Ghana knows Kwadee because of the music I did. I cut across both the old and the new, chiefs and prominent people listen to my songs.

“Sarkodie winning a BET does not mean he is popular than me. When we do polls between myself and the A-list artistes we have now I still stand tall."

One might see Kwadee's argument because, in fairness, he was a pretty big musician. But the Yeeko Mmaa Pe hitmaker believes he has not quite fallen out of favour with the critical mass of Ghanaians.

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that CEO of Empire Entertainment, Kwabena Anokye Adisi, also known as Bola Ray, challenged rapper Okomfo Kwadee to desist from smoking marijuana for just a week.

If he succeeds, Kwadee will be given a handsome reward by Bola Ray. Kwadee, who took a long break from music, reportedly to treat a mental illness, is a known user of the drug.
