Man United vs Liverpool ended in a disappointing draw for the Merseysiders as they only have a one-point lead over defending Champions Manchester City.
Liverpool quickly made their intentions known as they capitalised on a faulty pass from Man United defence but Jordan Henderson's shot was quickly blocked.
United responded in the seventh as Marcus Rashford was saved by Alisson in goal to keep the score 0-0 apiece.
Both sides were hit with injuries as Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Jesse Lingard were all substituted in the first for Man United.
On the other, Daniel Sturridge came on for Roberto Firmino as the first 45 minutes ended in a goalless draw.
The second seemed livelier than first as both sides showed more attacking threats but to no avail.
In the 75th minute, United though they had gone a goal up as Matip turned the ball into his own net which Luke Shaw lifting in the area but the referee's assistant raised an offside.
Untied had a couple of decent deliveries into the box but their player were often caught in an offside position.
Liverpool had most of the possession in the match but lacked decent deliveries as both settled for a share of the spoils.
