Minister endorses the recruitment of party boys into the national security

- A government official, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, has argued that it is important to have party boys as security operatives

- According to him, government appointees feel safe, knowing that their own people are handling security

- He however added that security operatives should ensure that their allegiance is primarily to the state

The deputy minister of trade and industry, Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, has justified the recruitment of some party members into the national security.

Per a report by, he argued that the current trend of politics in Ghana has made such a decision an important one.

He went on to say that, the sitting government cannot compromise on security and for that reason, it needs to work with people it can trust.

“I think you are not aware of certain things; every government in power employs into state security office its party boys and trains them to be part of the security force.

It is not a problem at all employing party boys into national security operations, because we need them to protect us,” he said.

In his opinion, it is important for every new government to immediately recruit its party boys into the national security as soon as it wins power.

According to him, government appointees can sleep well, knowing that such people are available to protect them.

He noted that individuals within government sectors, particularly security settings, must change their line of responding to official duties no matter the party in power to prevent political parties from questioning their loyalty; which he said, should always be to the state.
