Yamoah Ponkoh assures NDC of victory even if Ofori Atta becomes EC chairman

- An NDC member, Yamoah Afrifa Ponkoh, has claimed that former president John Mahama will become Ghana's next president

- According to him, not even the appointment of Akufo-Addo's cousin, Ken Ofori Atta, as chairman of the EC, or others, will change the results

A former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu, Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh, has claimed that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will win the 2020 elections.

Per a report by Mynewsgh.com, he argued that the results would not change even if top members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) were appointed as officials of the Electoral Commission (EC).

In his opinion, not even the finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta, the first lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo or the second lady, Samira Bawumia, can influence the 2020 elections.

He went on to say that the current economic hardship in Ghana will easily secure a win for former president John Mahama in 2020.

For that reason, he explained, the fact that President Akufo-Addo appointed the current members of the Electoral Commission (EC) will not affect the impending elections.

He added that Mahama’s victory in the NDC flagbearer election is causing fear and panic in NPP, because they are already aware of the havoc he will cause at the next polls.

On Saturday, February 23, 2019, Mahama was chosen as NDC’s flagbearer for the 2020 elections, after securing about 95% of the votes.

After his victory, he called for unity in the NDC, so they can reclaim power from NPP in 2020.
