Secret tape: NDC chairman speaks about plot to tarnish images of Akufo-Addo, EC boss and Peace Council chairman

- NDC's national chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has been reportedly caught on tape discussing plans to tarnish the images of three people

- The intended targets are President Akufo-Addo, EC chair Jean Mensa and Peace Council chairman, Professor Emmanuel Asante

- Ofosu Ampofo was allegedly speaking with some NDC members at an undisclosed location

The national chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has been reportedly captured on a tape, detailing plans to tarnish the reputations of some people in key public offices.

YEN.com.gh understands that the targets are President Akufo-Addo, the chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa and the chairman of the Peace Council, Professor Emmanuel Asante.

In the audio, Ampofo is allegedly heard telling a group of people that “we’re going to take her (EC boss) to the cleaners.”

“As for the EC chair, we must wage a relentless war on this EC chair. Me, she doesn’t want to see my face,” Ofosu-Ampofo allegedly said.

As part of strategic communication plans for the NDC going into the 2020 elections, Ofosu-Ampofo also gave his blessings for the communicators to deal with the Peace Council chairman, Professor Asante.

“For the first time, I will endorse insulting the national Peace Council chair,” he said to cheers from those listening to him.

According to Starrfm.com.gh, he went ahead to say that the NDC will form a Security and Intelligence Unit, which would have a national coordinator working with other officers.

Ofosu-Ampofo also called on the party’s communicators to focus on President Nana Akufo-Addo, with respect to the violence that occurred during the Aywaso West Wuogon by-election.

This, he explained, is because the president is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces.

According to him the party will marshal all material resources to ensure that their own security forces are able to fight, but urged them not to adopt a face-to-face approach.

He went on to say that they “must be tactical and make life unbearable” for the president, EC chairperson and the National Peace Council boss.
