Ghanaian JHS leaver designs mobile-powered car technology (Video)

The ingenuity of the Ghanaian has been thrust into the headlines again as YEN.com.gh sights the story of Gabriel Kwame Nyarko, a junior high school leaver who has been to able to work out the science that makes his mobile phone power his car.

Nyarko says he is now a student at the Sunyani Technical University although his qualifications are not meant to put him there. But it is known that universities make exceptions for minds they consider exceptional.

On the popular YouTube channel KOFI TV, Nyarko lets his invention play out. At the press of commands from his phone, the car starts, wipers clean and windows go up and down.

Nyarko said his motivation for venturing into mobile-powered automobiles was to help vehicle owners have plausible control over the security of their cars.

It has to be noted that Nyarko's invention is not novel. The likes of General Motors and other German and Japanese automobile manufacturers have already ventured into this area.

What makes Nyarko special is that he has neither the education nor the financial wherewithal to have made this possible. Yet, he has.

It is not clear to YEN.com.gh the science behind the technology. It would help to know the capacity of the wireless technology, the permissible distance between car and phone, as well as the weaknesses of Nyarko's invention.

In the interview sighted by YEN.com.gh, Nyarko explained that he came from a rather humble background and still looking to get good recognition for his work.

He has a rather small workshop where he goes to work and hopes he gets investment to expand.

Nyarko's is a story of millions of Ghanaians. He is yet another example of the maxim, "Talents abound. Opportunities are meagre".
