YEN.com.gh has sighted a rather weird video on social media of individuals who pose as blind beggars in order to pull heartstrings and get money from people in public.
The video seems to have been shot from the blind side of the "blind" beggar and his helper while they counted how much they had made after a day's work.
The shooter of the video narrated that the the pair had earlier been spotted in traffic begging for alms. It would seem they then escaped the vehicular traffic for a hideout to run the day's accounts.
The setting for this dubious activity is in Accra, Ghana's capital.
This occurrence of well-meaning people being scammed out of money by alleged handicapped people is not a novelty on Ghanaian streets.
In fact, people who profess to be amputated or paralysed are also known to come up every now and then to scam pedestrians out of money.
Suspecting the issue is one thing but being confronted with a video evidence is another ting altogether, it has to be said.
Meanwhile, a Ghanaian nurse, Margaret Afriyie, is being celebrated for handling a job excellently even though she is the only attendant at a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHIPS) compound in the Ashanti region.
YEN.com.gh sighted the special praise for Afriyie on Facebook thanks to a user who singled out the nurse for excelling in the poorly-staffed establishment.
Afriyie is apparently the only midwife at the CHIPS compound and has delivered about seven babies so far.
