Fidelity bank staff arrested over ghc 112,550 theft

The Branch Manager and Operations Manager at the Nkawkaw branch of Fidelity Bank in the Eastern region are currently in the grip of the police for allegedly stealing a sum of GHc112,550.

The two, Gabriel Yamoah Appiah (Branch Manager) and Evans Amoakohene (Operations Manager), are reported to have forged ECG prepaid vouchers in the name of the bank.

According to a report by TV3 Ghana, the suspects are into the habit of forging vouchers to steal from the bank.

A police source is quoted as saying that the Branch and Operations Managers have been forging the ECG vouchers since 2017.

However, the two high-ranking staff of the bank were caught following detailed checks by the financial crime manager of Fidelity Bank in Accra, Emmanuel Gyamfi.

Mr. Gyamfi went on to involve the Nkawkaw Police after realising what the two staff had been doing.

Gabriel Yamoah Appiah and Evans Amoakohene have since been detained and charged with stealing and forgery.

Meanwhile, the Nkawkaw Police are still going on with investigations to get to the bottom of the matter.
