General Mosquito hints of powerful political influence in Ofosu Ampofo’s case

- General secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has claimed that some unseen hands are probably controlling the CID

- According to him, delays at the CID headquarters when Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and his team arrived, have fuelled this suspicion

The general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has claimed that there is a form of political influence in the case involving the chairman of the party, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo.

Speaking at the headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on Monday, March 4, 2019, he added that party officials waited for over an hour but no one attended to them.

According to General Mosquito, it is likely that the delay could be traced to the fact that the police hierarchy are taking orders from powerful people in government.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the CID invited Ofosu Ampofo for questioning, following recordings on a leaked tape.

On the alleged tape, he is heard saying among other things that the NDC transported vigilantes groups to the venue of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election.

He was also heard calling on party members to wage a relentless war on some prominent personalities in Ghana, ahead of the 2020 elections.

Speaking to party supporters after a victory health walk in Accra, Ofosu Ampofo stated that he intends to honour the invitation from the police.

He argued that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is currently troubled because it is aware the NDC has “a chairman who is a peaceful person; a chairman who is reconciling his party and bringing his party together in unity to win 2020.”
