YEN.com.gh has come across in formation that 13 people collapsed under the high temperature at the Aliu Mahama Stadium during the 62nd independence celebrations.
Ghanaweb.com reports that the individuals, representing various security agencies at the parade grounds, were carried at different points on stretchers off the grounds by officials who administered first aid.
Representatives of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), police service, the army, air force etc. have remained standing after the march-past as the various speeches are read.
Students of the respective schools which however took their turns marching were taken off the field shortly after the march.
Dignitaries including the president of Niger were seen with fans trying to cool off with the heat in the area.
Though it got cloudy at the earlier stages of the march pass, temperatures currently can be pitched at approximately 39 degrees Celsius.
The northern part of Ghana is known for relatively hot and dry temperatures compared to other parts of the country.
The independence celebration saw for the first time, a national gathering outside of Accra.
Meanwhile, in 2019, Ghana turned 62 and the debate still rages on whether it is more suitable to speak of the founders or a founder.
While some would love that we stick to what we have accepted all this while and for others, an ideological battle, YEN.com.gh has listed five eminent persons who contributed in various ways to Ghana's independence.
