The news is reported of a 65-year-old billionaire, Ehud Arye Laniad, who died of a heart attack during an operation to enlarge his manhood.
Laniad, a diamond trader, died at a private Paris hospital where he was undergoing the procedure. The Toronto Sun reports that he died while on the operating table.
Other media reports have it that Laniad was triggered into a cardiac arrest after a substance was injected into his manhood.
In the wake of Laniad's death, his company Omega Diamonds, issued a statement saying: “Farewell to a visionary businessman. It is with great sadness that we confirm that our founder Ehud Arye Laniado has passed away."
Laniad, in his younger years, had been a masseur in his native Israel but set on the path to wealth having worked in Africa and being exposed to precious minerals.
A friend of the deceased told reporters that Laniad had always been focused on his appearance and how others perceived him.
He is quoted as saying: “The Argentinian: That is what we used to call him at Omega Diamonds because he looked like a Tango dancer.”
He reportedly owned a $50-million (GHC 250 million) penthouse in Monaco. The accommodation was the most expensive property in the principality.
Laniad was also said to have had a penchant for celebrities and models.
His company added in their statement that: “After living an exceptional life Ehud will be brought back home to Israel as his final resting place. He will be dearly missed by us all."
