One Ghanaian woman leads others to share frustrations with the Passport Office

A Ghanaian woman has narrated her frustration with the process of securing a passport, with her photos symbolising the endemic bureaucracy that comes with Ghanaian government agencies.

Pioseh G Millicent took to Facebook amidst a pouring of sentiments related to the difficulties in dealing with Ghana's Passport Office.

Her story, above everyone else's, combined the red-tapes and corruption that Ghanaians face in their pursuit of a passport.

It would seem Pioseh has so far deleted her post because of the attention she is getting. But courtesy of Ghanacelebrities.com, we have come to have the original post.

Pioseh wrote: “Is this where Ghana has gotten to?! It’s sad and so unspoken of Us. After buying the form for 50 ghc or 100 ghc depending on how fast u want it,which actually ranges from 1 month to 3 months u still need to pay #Bribe before u can have ur own passport?

At the initial stage she was asked to pay ghc 400 if she wanted to have the passport fast, she said she wasn’t in hurry and that she cld wait for the 3 months to have the passport(maybe she cld not even afford this amount requested).

Then after 4 months of waiting, this is what she gets in return. I have personally gone to check on her passport on 4 different occasions and in all they always claim is not inn yet. Why Ghana ?! Why Passport Office?!. This is even renewal of passport. A Medical Student who studies in China. She’s almost done but has to go back for another year and this is how best passport office or sm individuals in passport office can treat her?!”

All of these frustrations come even though the government has put in place measures to ensure efficiency and transparency at the various passport application centres across the country.

It seems there are some bad faith actors with the sole purpose of milking the system from every applicant.
