Lady to donate her kidney to man who adopted her 27 years ago

- A North Carolina woman identified as DeLauren McKnight will be donating her kidney to the man who adopted her 27 years ago

- According to reports, none of the 64-year-old pastor's other family members had been a match

- The man identified as Houze revealed his kidneys began failing in 2016

The says everything in life happens for a reason and this American father and his adopted daughter sure know a thing or two about this.

The young lady identified as DeLauren McKnightwill, will be donating one of her kidneys to her father.

According to reports, DeLauren was surprised to learn she was a match for her father, Billy Houze, as they are not blood-related.

Doctors said he would not survive past five years without a transplant after his kidneys began failing in 2016.

Speaking in an interview, the father of five revealed he is extremely proud of his daughter.

The Baptist pastor had this to say: "She told me, 'Daddy, you thought you were saving my life pulling me from foster care but in actuality, you were saving my life so I could save yours later.'"

When none of his relatives were donor matches, doctors said it could take him seven years to get a kidney.

Then in February 2019, they tested Ms McKnight, who Mr Houze and his wife adopted in 1992; and she was a perfect match.

DeLauren McKnight had this to say: "I call him my Superman. There's nothing in this world I wouldn't give him so he can enjoy life and be right there beside me."
