Ras Kuuku and manager cry over 2019 VGMA snub

Ghanaian reggae and dancehall artiste, Ras Kuuku and his manager has lamented over the artiste's inability to get a nomination in this year's Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

In an exclusive interview with YEN.com.gh, Ras Kuuku's manager, popularly known as Da Biggest Boss revealed that they were informed about Ras Kuuku's nomination by a lady from Charter House but later snubbed.

According to him, the lady called Ras Kuuku first to inform him about his nomination and inquired his whereabout so she could deliver ticket for the nomination event.

He further alleged that the lady upon direction by Ras Kuuku called him and consequently delivered the ticket.

Da Biggest Boss in his chat with YEN.com.gh noted that it was however surprising that after the conversation and delivery of ticket, Ras Kuuku was not nominated in any of the categories.

Ras Kuuku's manager recalled that the same process was undertaken last two years when they were nominated thus they were surprised that this time, they went through such process but had no nomination.

Again, Da Biggest Boss argued that Ras Kuuku's single titled 'Wo' made a lot of waves during the year under review.

He disclosed that due to how the song made a hit, they recorded a remix and featured Kofi Kinaata which also made waves.

He then quizzed Charter House as to why they will be taken through similar process of last two years, had a hit song but did not get any nomination.

Aside Da Biggest Boss, some bloggers took to social media to express their disappointment as to why Ras Kuuku did not make the nominations.

But in a chat with George Quaye of Charter House, he debunked the allegation that Ras Kuuku was intentionally snubbed from the reggae dancehall category.

George Quaye also disclosed that Charter House does not inform artistes about their nomination prior to the nomination event.

He noted that it was rather surprising for Ras Kuuku and his manager to claim that someone had called them to inform them about Ras Kuuku's nomination.

George Quaye in his comment on the saga also revealed that Ras Kuuku was invited to the event as an artiste and not a nominee.

He gave an example of how Cecey Twum, Empress Gifty and some other artistes attended the event but did not get nominated.

George Quaye somewhat rubbished the claim that Ras Kuuku was snubbed, revealing that he just did not make it into the awards scheme for this year.
