Many football stars during their active days are deemed rich because of their juicy contracts.
Well, that is not the case of former Ghana and Kotoko forward Abukari Gariba popularly known as "Goal na mafifɛ" to wit, it is goal I am searching for.
YEN.com.gh has sighted a video of Gariba on the Facebook page of Ghanaian sports journalist Saddick Adams and the former national stars is in an unfortunate situation.
Despite his achievements on the field and all the accolades he won for himself at club and national levels, Gariba is now a street beggar in Tamale and Kumasi.
Gariba in an interview with Adams, recounted his exploits during his playing days.
According to him, whenever he is on the field, his aim is to hit the back of the net.
Football connoisseurs have indicated that Gariba scored over 300 goals for Ghana and Kotoko in a 14-year period however , not all of his exploits were documented.
YEN.com.gh previously reported a story about Charles Kumi Gyamfi being the only Ghanaian to have won the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) three times and it does not look like the current generation will see another Ghanaian equal that feat.
What most people do not know about CK Gyamfi is that he was one of the first Ghanaians, after independence, to play football professionally in Europe.
In 1960, Gyamfi signed to play for German side Fortuna Dusseldorf. Although the future Ghana coach spent just a year at the West Germany club, he became the first Ghanaian to play in Germany.
