UEW SRC names people involved in planning demonstrations

The acting president of the Students Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Education, Winneba, Akudugu Issaka, has revealed details about the demonstration that rocked the university a few weeks ago.

According to a Myjoyonline.com report, he explained that the incident on Thursday, March 14, 2019, was initiated, sanctioned and sponsored by “unseen hands.”

The SRC explained that the perpetrators were driven by the selfish, egoistic desires to bring the good name of the University into disrepute at all cost.

The SRC said after interaction with some of their colleagues and an examination of some video footages taken from the events leaves them with no doubt that the destructions clearly pointed to acts of hooliganism.

The SRC also condemned the involvement of some national officers of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), led by its national president, Dr. Eric Opoku.

In the view of the SRC, UTAG national executives should have engaged all sides in dialogue and negotiations, and not take sides.
