Man dies in akpeteshie drinking contest in Sekondi

A 25-year-old man has died under bizarre circumstances at Ntakoful, a suburb of the Sekondi-Takoradi, YEN.com.gh has gathered.
The young man, Patrick Obeng Hamza died while competing in an alcohol drinking contest on Friday, March 29, 2019.

According to a report YEN.com.gh sighted on 3news.com, the incident happened in the morning.
Hamza had taken four quarters (about one beer bottle) of the locally distilled gin known as akpeteshie. After that, he tried to drink another quarter (half of a coke bottle) but he collapsed in the process.
Hamza who is unemployed was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Hamza's challenger who also collapsed was reportedly revived after being given some mashed kenkey by those around.
